April Norton

Founding Attorney

Attorney April Norton is very compassionate about helping others and has found that focusing her legal practice on bankruptcy has proven to be a viable avenue for her to do what she loves.

Prior to opening Norton Law, P.C., Ms. Norton was a partner at Norton & Sweeden, L.L.C. where she partnered with a Chapter 7 Trustee.  Before that, April worked as a staff attorney for the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee, District of Colorado.  Having worked closely with Trustees in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 has given Ms. Norton insight and a degree of proficiency within the realm of bankruptcy that allows her to effectively represent clients in both chapters.

Ms. Norton has spoken at numerous continuing legal education courses for attorneys on the subject of bankruptcy.  Additionally, she has successfully litigated many bankruptcy cases, some of which have resulted in published legal opinions.

Ms. Norton is originally from Shalimar, Florida.  She attended Troy State University in Troy, Alabama.  While at Troy, she was an active member of Chi Omega Sorority and was a majorette with the Sound of the South Marching Band.  April was also a member of the student government association and was elected by the student body to serve as Senator and as Attorney General.  Ms. Norton also served as Pre-Law President.

April obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University School of Law, New Orleans, in 2003.  While at Loyola, she was a charter member of the Real Estate Law Society and an active member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.  An International Legal Certificate was awarded to Ms. Norton for her studies at the University of Vienna Law School in Vienna, Austria, and Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.  While at Loyola, Ms. Norton was sworn into the Louisiana Bar as a student practitioner and worked with people in need through the Gillis Long Poverty Law Clinic.

An avid hiker and animal enthusiast, April enjoys spending time on trails in the Colorado Rockies with her dogs Ember and Liza
